Cookies in plain terms
A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser; browser storage is its close relative. Both exist so a site can remember things between page loads — that you are the same visitor who was here a moment ago, that you already passed the age gate, that you muted your camera last time. Without a few of them, a service like CamgoChat cannot function: every page load would feel like a first visit. This page lists what we set, why, and how to refuse or remove any of it.
Essential cookies — the load-bearing few
A small group of cookies and storage entries is required for the product to run. They carry your guest or signed-in session so the matchmaker knows where to put you, remember that you confirmed your age, and hold basic preferences such as camera and microphone choices. They track nothing and carry no advertising content. Blocking them breaks matching, calls, and sign-in, so the site treats them as non-optional.
Analytics cookies
We use analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site gets used: which pages are read, how long visits last, what devices and browsers people arrive on, and roughly which countries they come from. The reports we consult are statistics, not identities — we see that a page had readers, never that a particular person read it. Analytics tells us what to repair and what to write next, and it is the closest thing to tracking that exists on CamgoChat.
How long each kind lasts
Session cookies die when the browser closes — they carry one visit from page to page and then disappear. Preference entries live for months, because forgetting your camera choice on every visit would be tedious. Analytics identifiers sit between the two: long enough to recognize a returning visitor, short enough that we are not keeping a diary. Exact lifetimes shift as browsers tighten their own rules, and modern browsers increasingly cap them whether we ask or not — a direction we welcome.
The cookies we refuse to set
CamgoChat runs no third-party advertising, which means no ad-network cookies, no retargeting pixels, and no cross-site profiling tags from us. Nothing on our pages follows you around the internet afterward, and no advertiser receives a profile assembled from your visits. If advertising cookies ever appear to arrive from our domain, treat it as a bug or an impostor and tell us at [email protected].
Storage beyond classic cookies
Browsers offer more than traditional cookies — local storage and similar mechanisms. CamgoChat uses these for the same modest jobs: remembering interface preferences, noting that you have already seen an introduction, and holding small pieces of session state that keep the site continuous instead of forgetful. Clearing your browser's site data removes all of it together with the cookies.
Refusing or removing cookies
Any modern browser gives you the controls to refuse or erase cookies, typically under Settings, then the Privacy or Site Settings area. You can block all cookies, block only third-party ones, or clear everything for one specific site — ours included. Blocking analytics costs you nothing and changes nothing about your matches. Blocking essential cookies will stop matching and sign-in from working. On a shared computer, clearing site data when you finish is also the simplest way to leave no trace of the visit.
When this policy changes
If we add a cookie or retire one, this page changes and the date at the top moves. We do not expect the list to grow — this service asks less of your browser than most sites you opened this week.
